Exercises That Burn More Fat Than Running...

For anyone planning to lose weight, running is among the first workouts that come to mind. We can definitely say that this is an effective way to do it: for a 155 lb person, running at 5 mph for 30 minutes should burn something like 298 calories. However, some people are not quite into running. Maybe it’s because it wears on their knees and joints, maybe they just think it’s boring.

1. Jumping rope — 372 calories

This is not just a popular child’s game, this is a commonexercise among many athletes. Jumping ropes can be a great cardio exercise — besides helping with coordination and timing. Since it can be done in more than one way, anyone can come up with their own “tricks” to try this exercise.

2. Swimming (crawl) — 409 calories

Swimming is a great option for burning some calories and preventing many diseases at the same time. It is an effective way to avoid diabetes, stroke, and other forms of heart failure. Also, it helps tostrengthen muscles, but with the advantage of not putting any stress on knees or hips.

3. Rock-climbing — 409 calories

Here’s a thrilling and fun way to burn some calories. Rock-climbing exercises muscles from pretty much the whole body, and its benefits can be felt even in your mental health, as it increases focus and self-efficiency.

4. Bicycling — 614 calories

The calorie loss obtained by riding a bike, like running, has much to do with the intensity of training. Adding some intermittent sprints during the ride may also be effective. There is also no shortage of reasons to ride a bike. Aside from being a good workout, with benefits for your muscles and heart, it’s a convenient, eco-friendly way of transportation.

5 healthy breakfast foods to help you lose weight

Mix up your morning meal and try one-or a few-of these 5 healthy breakfast foods that help you lose weight. Healthy Breakfast Recipes to Help You Lose Weight Eating a morning meal is a healthy habit if you're watching your weight. Research shows that regular breakfast eaters tend to be leaner and dieters are more successful at losing weight—and keeping it off—when they eat breakfast. What's more, people who do typically get more of some important nutrients, like fiber and vitamins.

1. Raspberries

A cup of raspberries delivers a whopping 8 grams of fiber (that's more than double what's in a cup of strawberries and about the same amount in a cup of some types of beans). What's so great about all that fiber? Recent research in the Journal of Nutrition suggests eating more fiber as a way to prevent weight gain or even encourage weight loss. Over the course of the two-year study, the researchers found that boosting fiber by 8 grams for every 1,000 calories resulted in about 4 ½ pounds of weight loss.

2. Oatmeal

Oatmealcan help you lose weight in two ways. First, it's packed with fiber and it keeps you feeling fuller longer. Second, a recent study in the reported that eating a breakfast made with "slow-release" carbohydrates—such as oatmeal or bran cereal—3 hours before you exercise may help you burn more fat. How? Eating "slow-release" carbohydrates doesn't spike blood sugar as high as eating refined carbohydrates (think: white toast). In turn, insulin levels don't spike as high. Because insulin plays a role in signaling your body to store fat, having lower blood sugar levels may help you burn fat.

3. Yogurt

A  recent report, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, and out of Harvard revealed which foods are correlated with weight change, including the top 5 foods that promote weight loss. Yogurt was one of them! (See more of the Best Foods for Weight Loss and 5 Foods That Make You Gain, here.) Another reason to eat yogurt: the protein in it may give you an extra edge if you're looking to get leaner. When researchers fed two groups of mice a high-fat diet for 11 weeks, the mice that got water spiked with whey protein (a type of protein found naturally in yogurt and another dairy) packed on 42 percent less weight and nearly a third less body fat than the mice who just drank plain water, despite the fact that they ate roughly the same number of calories. The whey eaters also gained 7 percent more lean body mass (e.g., muscle mass). Save calories—and unnecessary sugar—by choosing plain yogurt. If you need a little extra sweetness, try fresh fruit (maybe raspberries?).

4. Peanut Butter

Nuts were also among the top 5 foods that Harvard researchers said promote weightloss. I love to slather a tablespoon or two of peanut butter onto whole-wheat toast (ahem, a "slow-release" carbohydrate), but you could also add nuts to your oatmeal (another "slow-release" carb).

Will 1 Minute of Running a Day Really Strengthen Your Bones!!!

Women's Bone And Joint Health: Menopause and old age bring truckloads of health-related problems for women. Bone weakness and brittle nature is the leading cause of fractures in older women. Osteoporosis can cause the bone to become weak and brittle. Strengthen bones, to avoid osteoporosis and improve bone mass in the case of pre-osteoporosis. Doctors for better performance of the body have always recommended exercises, but the direct impact on bone strength has never been established before. Absence of physical activity will lead to mineral resorption, and continuous shedding of minerals will make the bones thinner, fragile and prone to break easily.

Aching bones and joints during menopause

Although, a wide variety of exercises have been suggested for bone strength, new researches across the globe indicate that “brief duration” of high intensity, high impact weight-bearing exercise such as jogging or running or directly jumping on the spot can do the magic. Few seconds can boost bone strength in pre-menopausal and post-menopausal women as well as older adults.

Does Running Daily Help?

To understand the significance of right kind of exercises, if one compares the people who exercise and the ones who do not, the thickness of bones in the first case will be 10 per cent more than the latter. Small improvements can make a difference in reducing the risk of broken bones.

Studies across countries have looked at the severity as well as the duration of exercises, which included inputs keeping pre- and post-menopausal as well as older women. A clear link has undoubtedly been established between this kind of high- intensity, weight-bearing exercise and better bone health in women. Although, it is yet not clear whether changing the patterns of these exercises could alter effects.

The study does not aim to shorten your running/workout time. With numerous benefits that are running, jogging brings out in the body, and bone strength is just an excuse to add “a minute of health” in your routine.

Lemon Water Weight Loss Benefits

Lemon Water Weight Loss Benefits.

Rich in antioxidants, high in fiber and low in calories, limes are an effective weight-loss food. Lime is one of those foods that improve the body's ability to burn fat/calories, though the weight loss mantra still remains the same i.e. burning more calories than what you consume every day. You may have lime either by squeezing it in water or over delicacies/salads.

How lime helps one to lose weight

There have been several debates on the effectiveness of lemon in improving digestion and helping the body regulate sugar absorption, thus, helping in weight loss.  Lime helps the body detoxify by breaking food down with the help of stomach acid and move it into the small intestine where the nutrients are absorbed. Thereafter, food is converted into solid stool which is then eliminated naturally.

The Nutrition and Metabolic Research Center described lemon as a fat burner owing to the presence of vitamin C which helps the body to absorb calcium into its fat cells. Calcium in the fat cells restrains the desire to eat more, thus, preventing weight gain.  A study at Arizona State University also suggested that people who have foods that are high in vitamins such as lemons, oranges, and grapes are less likely to gain weight.

An average-sized lime contains 1.9 grams of fiber, making up for the 6 percent of your daily need for fiber. Eating lime keeps one full for a longer period, thus, preventing weight gain. A lime has around 19.5 milligrams of vitamin C, which makes up for 26 percent of a woman's and 21.8 percent of a man's daily requirement of vitamin C. Vitamin C in the diet is essential to maintain physical endurance to build, maintain and repair skin, bones, and tissues. A study published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition asserted that vitamin C is a weight-loss nutrient. The study observed that people with adequate amounts of vitamin C burnt 30 percent more fat than those with insufficient vitamin C levels. A few times a day will push your weight-loss efforts on track with only a slight impact on your daily calorie intake.
